St. Matthew's UCC held its annual Best Pie contest at Saturday's church picnic. This year, the winners of the Best Apple Pie were, from left, Evelyn Bollinger, third; Connie Frantz,

second; and Connie Moretz, first (with her granddaughter, Grace Blundetto.) In Other Fruit, the winners were Sherry Kreger, first; Sandy Borger, second; and Darryl Breinich, third. In Other, Harry Brown, first; Connie Moretz, second; and Sherry Kreger, third. Harry Brown also won for Best Crust. The pies were cut and sold to benefit the church. In addition to the Best Pie contest, guests to the picnic had a chance to guess what was baked inside a chocolate cake. It was a whole cherry pie and the dessert is known as a Pake.
