They set aside their valuable time all for the greater good of Palmerton Hospital.

As a sign that their tireless devotion hasn't gone unnoticed, volunteers of the Palmerton Hospital Auxiliary were recently honored at the group's Volunteer Recognition Program and New Member Tea.Jenny Serfass, auxiliary president, welcomed those in attendance.Joe Guardiani, vice president of BMHS Fund Development/Auxiliary Liaison, led the prayer.Priscilla Offen, past president, gave the flag salute.Andrew Harris, president and CEO of BMHS, greeted the volunteers in attendance.Harris said the only thing that's changed is the fact that he has to thank them even more."Now, more than ever, we need volunteers," Harris said. "Thank you; we couldn't be here without you."Harris ended by thanking the volunteers for their service."I see all the hours you've all put in, and it's amazing," he said."Looking forward, we need you even more."Serfass then gave the volunteer pledge, at which time she then presided over the awards presentation.Those recognized with volunteer awards were as follows:• 50-hour certificates: Reneta Allen and Carol Ziegenfuss.•100-hour pin: Lin Adiletto, June Andreas, Carol Papay, and Betty Jane Thomas.• 500-hour pin: Debbie Brabec, Rita Goidich, Chic Irvin, Joann Kercsmar, and Jenny Serfass.• 1,000-hour pin: Ella Balliet, Perma Berger, and Janet Morgan.• 2,000-hour pin: Karen Kaiser, Vera Schaffer, and Judy Walck.• 3,000-hour pin and plaque: Irene Shinsec.Offen specifically praised Serfass for her tenure with the organization."I'm really grateful for Jenny's cheerful heart," Offen said."She's done a wonderful job."Serfass then recognized the following new auxiliary members as of April 2013: Mark Anthony, Sandra Christman, Carol Costenbader, Cyndi Dopsovic, Cindy Faust, Marjorie Federanich, Sharon George, Fran Hallman, and Donna Honigman.New members also include Jean Huttermann, Eleanor Irfan, Ardith Kuhns, Mary Kunkle, Elizabeth Kuntz, Kathy McGinty, Elizabeth Mertz, Susan Morrison, Patricia Moyer, Nancy Nothstein, Patricia Posten, Marsha Resch, Marion Rodgers, Lisa Salomon, Jeanne Samok, Julie Smale, Regina Spack, Janice Strauss, Frank Tamburri, Deborah Wert, and Amy Whyte.
