A Lansford driver was surprised after his vehicle caught fire in Summit Hill Wednesday evening.
According to Summit Hill Police Chief Joseph Fittos, at 8:15 p.m., officers, as well as the Summit Hill Fire Department and EMS were dispatched to 175 Laurel Drive, located on top of Bugzie's Mountain in the borough, for a fully-involved vehicle fire.
The driver of the 2003 Kia, Scott Reese of 213 W. Abbott St., Lansford, told police that he was driving when the vehicle started acting strangely. He pulled over and noticed flames shooting out from under the vehicle.
Fittos reported that everyone was safely out of the vehicle when police and the fire department arrived on scene and no one needed medical attention.
The fire was put out quickly by the volunteer firefighters. The road was shut down until the scene was cleared.
The vehicle was towed from the scene by Krajcirik's Towing of Lansford.
