A road rage incident in Tamaqua has led to charges being filed against Drew D. Labar, 25, of 219 Market St., Tamaqua.

On April 5 Robert Knepper reported being assaulted in the parking lot of the BRL Grocery Outlet, 1217 E. Broad St. Knepper said he pulled in to a parking space when a red mini van pulled in close to him. Two males got out of the van, yelling and screaming that he cut them off at the intersection of Broad and Greenwood streets. After an exchange of angry words the van's passenger punched Knepper in the face. The victim's face was bruised and swollen, with blood on and around his nose.

He was able to provide officers with the van's license plate number. A records check determined the owner to be Daniel Labar of Tamaqua. When contacted Labar admitted the incident took place, naming his son, Drew, as the man who struck Knepper.

Knepper was examined at St. Luke's Miners Hospital, Coaldale, where he was treated for a fracture cheek and a broken nose.

Labar was cited for aggravated and simple assault and disorderly conduct.
