Proposed wind farm facts

• Tihali Wind Turbine LLC of Brick, N.J., proposes constructing the wind farm at the top of the Broad Mountain in Packer Township and Nesquehoning, between the Carbon/Schuylkill County boundary line to the west and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Game Commission lands to the east.

• The estimated completion date is fall 2015.• The estimated cost of the project is approximately $400 million.• Companies involved in the planning of the project include Tihali Wind Turbines LLC, T&M Associates of Bethlehem, Global Resource Advisors LLC of Washington, D.C., and Infinity Contractors of Lehighton.• The site consists of 18 tax parcels in Carbon County and one tax parcel in Schuylkill County.• Access to the site will be from Dennison Road in Nesquehoning• The current zoning of the land is agricultural in Packer Township and conservation and residential in Nesquehoning.• The site will be 3,439.323 acres in size. Of that 2,569.662 acres are located in Packer Township and 869.661 acres are in Nesquehoning.• The land for the site is being purchased from the Kovatch family, which will retain the mineral rights to the land to protect the natural springs and make sure no one will be able to frack for natural gas.
