Man jailed after Tamaqua stabbing

A New Ringgold man was attacked in Tamaqua on Monday afternoon over a supposed debt.

Dominic Chickilly, 23, told Tamaqua police he was walking in the area of the Majestic House Apartments when another man, identified as Adam Jose Cruz, 29, of 20 Clay St., Tamaqua, pulled up in a silver Ford pickup demanding money he said he was owed.When Chickilly indicated he didn't know what Cruz was talking about, Cruz jumped out of his truck.Police said he then approached Chickilly, armed with a yellow box cutter, which he used to stab the victim in his left arm, near the bicep.Chickilly ran to the Tamaqua Community Ambulance garage on North Railroad Street for help and was then transported to St. Luke's Miners Hospital in Coaldale for treatment.Cruz fled the scene by the time police arrived, and an alert was issued to local police departments, providing a description of Cruz and his Ford F150 truck.The incident was reported to police at 3:50 p.m.Officers went to Clay Street, where they found the truck parked in a back driveway. The Ford was towed and impounded.Cruz was located on East Elm Street at 8:20 p.m. and arraigned before on-call District Judge David Plachko of Port Carbon on charges of aggravated and simple assault, assault with a deadly weapon, reckless endangerment, harassment and disorderly conduct.Bail was set at $10,000. Cruz was lodged in the county prison in Pottsville.
