The 35th annual telethon of the Carbon-Tamaqua Chapter of the American Cancer Society drew crowds at Penn's Peak over the weekend. Dozens of performers, ranging from professional bands to solo acts to school and church groups provided entertainment during the two-day event, which was also broadcast live by Blue Ridge Communications TV-13. A highlight was the presentation of Courage Awards to four people who have bravely battled cancer. A record $213,330 was received in pledges.
