Northampton man facing charges

A Northampton County man is facing several charges, including unlawful contact with a minor, following an investigation by the state police Computer Crime Unit.

Michael Edward Getz, 35, of 850 Bushkill Center Rd., in Nazareth, Bushkill Township, has been charged with unlawful contact with a minor, criminal use of a communication facility, obscene and other sexual materials, and corruption of minors. Getz was arrested on Sept. 26 and arraigned before District Judge James F. Stocklas. He was released on $5,000 unsecured bail.Troopers said the investigation was initiated by New Jersey State Police Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.An undercover (UC) New Jersey State Police detective, posing as an underage female, responded to a Craigslist advertisement posted by Getz. The ad indicated Getz was seeking a young girl for a sexual relationship.After the UC responded to the ad an online relationship developed between Getz and the UC. During one of the online electronic communications Getz used a webcam and sexually pleasured himself while chatting with the UC.During the investigation members of the Pennsylvania state police Computer Crime Task Force seized a computer from Getz's residence. The state police computer crime unit conducted a forensic examination of the seized evidence. At the conclusion of the examination it was discovered that Getz used his personal computer to communicate with the UC.
