Coaldale firefighter Tom Polischak, captain, holds Shamus, a 3-year-old male miniature Dalmatian, a mascot of the Coaldale Fire Department. Shamus, who was on scene of a dwelling fire last month in Coaldale, is occasionally brought to fire scenes in hopes of cheering up any victims of a fire.
