Tamaqua man dies after fall

A Tamaqua man, a former member of the Tamaqua school board, has died of complications after falling off a tractor in Lansford.

Daniel M. Miorelli, 54, of 163 Owl Creek Road, died at 3:55 a.m. on Saturday at St. Luke's Hospital in Fountain Hill.According to the coroner, Miorelli fell from the back of a trailer just after 9 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 10, at 99 Riley St. in Lansford, where he was employed. The injury resulted in a fractured left hip.The Lehigh County coroner's office said Miorelli died due to complications from the hip fracture. Coroner Scott Grim ruled the death accidental.Last year, Miorelli was appointed president of the Tamaqua Area Booster Board, which oversees fundraising for athletics in the district. He was also a former coach with the Tamaqua Knee High Football program and served on the school board from 1992 to 1996.Miorelli is survived by his wife, Cathy, and two sons, Ryan and Austin. Mrs. Morelli is a former member of Tamaqua Borough Council.
