Do you remember visiting Hess's Department Store in Allentown?

Do you remember the beautiful models parading throughout the store, showing off the latest fashions?

Did you visit The Patio and indulge in Hess's famous mile-high strawberry pie as models walked by?

Carrie Shafer, the activities director at Mrs. Bush's Personal Care Home, wanted to bring those special memories back to life and organized a fashion show for the residents and the public.

Peebles of Brodheadsville and its store manager, April Murray, provided the fashions and members of Mrs. Bush's staff were the models.

Murray told the audience that the fall season colors are greens, blues and oranges. She said crimson was the hot color for the new winter season.

Each of the residents received a goody bag that contained coupons for the Peebles store, a perfume sample, other coupons for stores at the West End Plaza that can be used on a planned shopping and lunch trip in October. Another business is giving the residents a coupon for lunch that day.

Shafer researched on the Internet and found the recipe for Hess's strawberry pie and made four homemade pies for the residents to enjoy, just like they were back at Hess's.

Resident Virginia Jaskowika said the fashion show and dessert was a fun time and resident Jennie Dunwell said it was very nice.
