You've had all summer to get your tail on the trail, now's the time to see how fast you are - by getting timed for the 5k.

The Delaware & Lehigh National Heritage Corridor and the Mauch Chunk Trust Company are hosting a five kilometer (3.1 mile) run-walk on the D&L Trail in Jim Thorpe. There is a fee for registering for participants over 13 years old. All proceeds will be used to maintain the Delaware & Lehigh National Heritage Corridor trail in Carbon County.

The 5K run-walk begins at the northern end of the Carbon County Parking lot, crosses the Nesquehoning Junction Bridge and continues for one-tenth of a mile along the Glen Onoko access road, where participants will U-turn and return to the starting point/finish line.

With the support of the Mauch Chunk Trust Company, the event is billed as the Trust 5K Run-Walk on the D&L Trail. "It is the inaugural event and we hope that it becomes an annual event," said Elissa Garofalo, president of the Delaware & Lehigh National Heritage Corridor.
