Blue Mountain Health System and CarbonCounty Area Agency On Aging will co-host a Senior Health and Information Fair from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 8, at the Lehighton Recreation Center at 243 S. 8th St., Lehighton.

Free health screenings will be offered, including cholesterol, blood pressure, glaucoma and pulse oximetry.Blue Mountain Health System will offer free flu and pneumonia vaccines, and the state Department of Health will offer free or low cost shingles vaccine to people who are 50 years and older. Those who are underinsured (whose insurance does not cover the vaccine) or uninsured. Registration for the shingles vaccine is required by calling 570-325-6106.In addition to the health screenings, departments from Blue Mountain Health System and other health and social organizations in Carbon and surrounding counties will be offering door prizes, goodies, and information that focuses on concerns and issues that are important and relevant to people 55 years of age and older.There is no charge to attend the health and information fair.Registration is required only for those who would like to receive the shingles vaccine.
