Pleasant Valley used the "big play" on Friday night to hand East Stroudsburg North a 43-14 Mountain Valley Conference loss, setting up a big matchup with Stroudsburg next week.

The Bears and Mountaineers are both one game behind East Stroudsburg South in the MVC Standings, but the game has major District 11 implications with both teams battling to grab one of six Class AAAA berths.One of the major reasons for the "big plays" was Brandon Leap, the Bears' quarterback, who completed 16-of-18 pass attempts for 281 yards and three touchdowns in the rout."That young man (Leap) really executed on a lot of ends tonight," Pleasant Valley head coach Jim Terwilliger said afterwards. "Coming back from a week where he didn't throw a pass, he was hungry to get going a little bit. Offensively, his play was inspirational today from a quarterback's standpoint. Just being able to execute our offense and run our offense and be a field general he did a tremendous job."He spread the ball around, getting multiple people the ball and taking what the defense gave him. He played like a seasoned veteran tonight. It was neat to watch."It didn't take Leap long to show his presence as he hooked up with Tanner Parascando for a 57 yard touchdown with 3:49 left in the opening quarter giving the Bears a 6-0 lead.The Timberwolves answered right back after running the kickoff back to the Bears' 34. David Quiles caught an 8-yard touchdown pass from his brother Will with 1:05 left in the quarter and Cesar Velasquez booted the PAT to give East Stroudsburg North a 7-6 lead.Momentum changer?Forget about it.Pleasant Valley's Nylem Nevarez ran back the ensuing kickoff 68 yards into the end zone 11 seconds later and the Bears were back on top for good, 12-7."We had some big plays tonight in a lot of different areas with a lot of different people stepping up to the plate," said Terwilliger. "We don't have a superstar, I would say, but we have 11 or 12 guys on each side of the ball which have really taken an ownership into what they are doing. They're playing their hearts out, they're doing what has to be done as well as it can be done."The Bears put up an impressive drive using 18 plays to go 86 yards and taking over six minutes off the clock for their third touchdown.The drive included eight completions by Leak and ended on an 8-yard completion to Nevarez for six with 2:28 to go in the half. Austyn Borre punched in another score from the one 17 seconds before intermission to give the Bears a 26-=7 advantage.On the second play of the third quarter, Borre broke one of his patented runs for a 44-yard touchdown and on the first play of their next possession, Leap found Tanner Parascando open again and the 6-3, 190-pound tight end rambled 59 yards into the end zone for his second score of the night. This gave the Bears a 40-7 lead with 9:22 left in the third quarter.Dean Krcic booted a 35-yard field goal with 4:19 remaining in the third quarter to put the game under the "Mercy rule".Will Quiles, the T'wolves quarterback, was the only bright spot for his team as he rushed for 110 yards and scored on a 30-yard run with just over five minutes left in the game."The East Stroudsburg North offense is tough," said Terwilliger. "Our defense did a nice job tonight. We didn't cause a lot of turnovers, but did force them to punt quite a few times."We're excited with an opportunity to play Stroudsburg here at home next week. We're looking forward to it."
