A Bucks County driver sustained what troopers called a major injury in a one-vehicle crash that occurred about 3:35 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 21, in Carbon County.
State police at Fern Ridge said Peter C. Thayer, 44, of Quakertown, was driving a 1999 Jeep Wrangler eastbound on Interstate 80 in East Side Boro, when the vehicle went onto the berm for unknown reasons. The Jeep struck several trees, rolled over, and came to rest facing north on its wheels.
Thayer was ejected from the vehicle. He was flown by Medevac helicopter to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township, troopers said. Troopers said he will be cited for driving on roadways laned for traffic.
Troopers also reported on a second one-vehicle crash, which occurred about 4:30 p.m. on Monday along SR115 in Chestnuthill, Monroe County. Troopers said Patricia E. Disbrow, 72, of Effort, was driving a 2009 Buick Sable northbound when a deer entered the road in front of her. She was unable to avoid the deer and struck it with the front of her car.
Disbrow was not injured.
