The small village of Kunkletown was overrun with clowns, princesses and a few scary looking zombies on Sunday at the Eldred Township Halloween Parade.

But everyone was in safe hands because a representative from the Monroe County Sheriff's Department was there. And thanks to the Celtic United Pipes and Drums, the music helped put everyone in the mood for a parade.No parade is complete without fire trucks with their lights flashing and sirens and horns going. Thanks to Kunkletown, Polk Township and Blue Ridge Hook and Ladder volunteer fire companies, they led the parade from St. Matthew's UCC's picnic grove, past the church onto Fiddletown Road, then through town on Kunkletown Road.This year's grand marshals were Pearl Borger and Geraldine Correll, riding with Melvin Frable in his Karmann Ghia convertible.There were about 100 walkers and six floats that participated.One float, Colin Dorshimer's No Boundaries, released 50 colorful balloons trying to spread the message to "Say No to Drugs." Another float, Operation: Touch of Home would like to get the message out to help the organization send care packages to service men and women overseas.This year's cash prize winners were: Cutest: 1st, Mackenna Ertle; 2nd, Julia Bulawa; 3rd, Madelyn Simpson; Ugliest: 1st, Nathan Brunell, 2nd, Mitchell Ertle, 3rd, Jack Ertle; Most Original: 1st, Hunter Brunell; 2nd, Lorelai Simpson; 3rd, Nickolas Snyder; Best Pair: 1st, Danica and Kailyn Getz; 2nd, Iliana Lutz and Stacey Green; 3rd, Meghan Ertle and Bryce Pardolfo; Best Group: 1st, Autumn Bender and friends; 2nd, Kunkletown General Store Kids; 3rd, Celtic United Pipes and Drums; Best Float: 1st, Alexis and Kelsey Stankovich in their Jake and the Neverland Pirate Ship; 2nd, Butch Getz's Pop Pop's Little Punkins Patch; 3rd Susi March with three beautiful Alaskan Eskimo dogs with sled of Artic Paws Dog Sled Tours.All those who participated received treats and a hot dog lunch at the conclusion of the parade."It was a great parade.
