One person sustained minor injuries during a three-vehicle collision on Route 443 in Mahoning Township, Friday. Charles Hughes of Palmerton was transported to the Gnaden Huetten Campus of Blue Mountain Health System, Lehighton. According to Mahoning Township police, a Ford Ranger driven by Charles Hughes of Palmerton was stopped in the westbound lane of SR443, waiting to turn left into the parking lot of the Haircut Stop. While stopped the vehicle was rear-ended by a Dodge Caliber driven by Tonia Girard of Coaldale. After impact the Ford was pushed into the eastbound lane where it was struck by a tractor trailer driven by Robert Akins of Harrisonville, Missouri. Girard refused medical treatment.
