Palmerton soccer, Pleas. Vy. spikers both nab victories

Palmerton's boys soccer team and Pleasant Valley's volleyball team came up with wins on Tuesday in local scholastic sports action.

BOYS SOCCERNotre Dame (ES)-PalmertonAustin Shupp became Palmerton's all-time leading scorer with a pair of goals and the Blue Bombers cruised to a 6-0 Colonial League win over Notre Dame-East Stroudsburg.Shupp upped his season total to 14 goals and now has 35 in his career.Gabe Scott and Logan Blasiak scored goals, and assisted on each other's tally, to give Palmerton a 2-0 halftime lead. Blasiak registered another goal in the second half, while Shupp added his two, to help the Bombers pull away. Jonathan Schwarz also scored for the winners.VOLLEYBALLStroudsburg-Pleasant ValleyCourtney Miller and Noel Kelly each had 11 kills as Pleasant Valley gained a 25-13, 25-16, 23-25, 25-23 Mountain Valley Conference win over rival Stroudsburg.The win allowed the Bears to close MVC play with an 11-1 record, the same mark as the Mounties.Ashley Rivera contributed nine kills, nine digs and three aces while Bridget Lozier added eight kills, three digs, two assists and three blocks.
