Tamaqua seniors set schedule

The Tamaqua Senior Citizens met on Oct. 10 with 70 members in attendance.

President Jean Machamer opened the meeting and Jacque Patrick provided invocation entitled "The Smallest Prayer," followed by the Lord's Prayer, Pledge of Allegiance and the singing of "My Country Tis of Thee."The secretary's report was read and accepted by Eleanor Schmerfeld and Winnie Dolan.Machamer spoke about a trip to the Schuylkill Mall, Frackville, to attend the Diakon Senior Expo. It was noted that flu and pneumonia shots will still be administered.The pizza party will take place on Oct. 17, the next meeting. On Oct. 31, members may dress for the Halloween meeting. Hot dogs will be served.On Nov. 14, installation of officers for 2014 will take place. There will be no meeting on Nov. 28 in observance of Thanksgiving Day.Nov. 8 will be the final date for signing up for the Christmas party, which will be held at noon Dec. 12.Queen for the day was Gloria McHale.Members Sylvia Housman and Dee Neifert closed the session, which was followed by bingo and card games.Membership in Tamaqua Senior Citizens is open to anyone age 55 and older.
