A former Mahanoy City man, who assaulted a police officer received a state prison sentence. He was one of five sentenced on criminal charges in Schuylkill County court.

Tyron Brown Sr., 41, Long Pond, Monroe County, formerly of Mahanoy City, who was found guilty by a jury last August of aggravated assault on a police officer, was sentenced by Judge Charles M. Miller to serve 16 to 32 months in a state correctional facility. He was also ordered to pay $50 to Criminal Justice Enhancement Account (CJEA) and make restitution of $4,789.30 to the victim. He was cited by Chief Mark Wiekrykas, Mahanoy City Police.On a charge of disarming a police officer, Brown received a concurrent sentence of 14 to 28 months; resisting arrest, concurrent three to six months, and disorderly conduct, concurrent 60 days sentence.Other sentencesTameeka Rochelle Hawkins, 41, Philadelphia, who was found guilty by a jury last Aug. 27 of attempting to deliver illegal drugs to an inmate at the state correctional facility in Mahanoy Township, was sentenced by Miller to serve 24 to 48 months in a state correctional facility, pay $300 to the Substance Abuse Education (SAE) fund, $50 to CJEA, make restitution of $113 to Bethlehem Reginal Lab, and $245 to the Pennsylvania State Police. She was cited by Trooper Edward J. Lizewski.Matthew D. Marchalk, 28, Frackville, pleaded guilty to driving under the influence (DUI) of alcohol and was sentenced by Judge Jacqueline Russell to serve a probation period of six months, pay $300 to SAE fund, $50 to CJEA, $50 to MCare fund, attend alcohol highway safe driving school, and perform 75 hours of community service. Marchalk was cited by Frackville Patrolman George Parnell.John Thomas Eavarone, 32, North Hampton, who pleaded nolo contendere (no defense) to failure to comply with the requirement of registering as a sexual offender in the area he came to reside, was sentenced by Judge Miller to serve 21 to 42 months in a state correctional facility and pay $50 to CJEA. He was cited by Minersville Patrolman Jeffrey R. Bowers.Jennifer Tess Kramer, Pottsville, pleaded nolo contendere to possession of a controlled substance was sentenced by Miller to serve 28 days to 12 months in the county prison, however, since she spent time from April 23 to May 20 in a rehab center she was granted immediate parole, must pay $50 to CJEA, and make restitution of $176 to Bethlehem Regional Lab. Kramer was cited by Pottsville Patrolman Joseph R. Welsh.Each defendant sentenced to a county term must pay a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation or parole.
