James "Jamie" A. Barton, of East Brunswick, has announced his Republican candidacy for the House of Representatives seat in the 124th District. The district includes parts of Berks and Schuylkill counties.
Born and raised in Pennsylvania, Jamie is a graduate of Blue Mountain High School and Alvernia University and serves as vice president of Jack Rich Inc., based out of Frackville.
A press release announcing his candidacy states that Barton was involved in the acquisition of eight businesses and has negotiated numerous fuel and gasoline contracts with major oil companies like Exxon Mobil, Pennzoil, Citgo and BP. It adds that he is also accountable for a workforce in excess of 50 people and a residential and commercial client base greater than 8,000 homes and businesses.
Barton is a past board of director of the Schuylkill Chamber of Commerce and has served as president of the Orwigsburg Lions Club, St. John's United Church of Christ, Orwigsburg and the Schuylkill County Fuel Dealers Association. Additionally, Barton has served as vice president of Big Brothers/Big Sisters Schuylkill County and is a member of the NRA, the Pennsylvania Petroleum Association and the Berks, Schuylkill Oil Heating Association.
He has a 16-year-old son Jack and lives in Orwigsburg.
