A Luzerne County man has been arrested and charged with stealing a PennDOT tandum axel dump truck.
Pocono Mountain Regional police said on Sunday, Sept. 29, there were dispatched to a accident along SR423 at a PennDOT shed. On scene officers found a Pontiac Sunfire near the front gate and later learned the dump truck was stolen. Police said evidence indicated the truck was driven off the site causing extensive damages to the main gate.
Police also learned that the Pontiac had been reported missing out of Larksville, Luzerne County, and that a suspect in that theft was identified as Thomas McCue, 19.
Information was also received that McCue was seen in the PennDOT truck in Hunlock Creek, Luzerne County, on Sept. 30.
As the result of the investigation Pocono police charged McCue with theft, receiving stolenn property, and criminal mischief, all felonies. He was taken into custody at the Luzerne County prison in Wilkes-Barre, where he is being held on unrelated charges. He was arraigned before District Judge Anthonyh Fluegel, of Tobyhanna, with bail set at $10,000 straight cash. He was then returned to the Luzerne prison pending a preliminary hearing in Monroe on the new charges.
