Bears soccer still perfect

Pleasant Valley's boys soccer team stayed undefeated by edging Lehighton in scholastic action Friday.

Teammate Ryan Klass recorded one assist.Nate Rex finished with five saves between the NL posts.FIELD HOCKEYPleasant Vy.-LehightonBrooke Blasiak's hat trick allowed Lehighton to pull out a 3-1 Mountain Valley Conference win over Pleasant Valley.Blasiak, off assists from Emily Mantz, scored two first-half goals for a 2-0 lead. The Bears trimmed into that margin later in the half when Annie Butchkoski got her team on the board.The Indians (8-8; 7-4) received an insurance goal in the second half when Blasiak scores again, this time on an assist from Maddie Teno.Pleasant Valley did have an 18-10 advantage in shots, but dropped to 10-4 overall and 8-2 in the MVC.In the JV game, the two teams tied 1-1.No. Lehigh-Pen ArgylLacey Hempeler's two goals were enough to lift Pen Argyl to a 2-1 Colonial League victory over Northern Lehigh.The Green Knights' Sara Cinelli and Sophia Cesare were credited with the assists.Shannon Weil scored the Bulldogs' lone goal off a Kelsey Follweiler assist.The Bulldogs' Chelsea Harlan posted five saves.N'western-PalmertonKassie Kilanowski's first half goal was all Northwestern needed to secure a 1-0 Colonial League victory over Palmerton.The Bombers outshot the Tigers 7-6, while they held a 15-6 edge in corners.GIRLS VOLLEYBALLWeatherly-Lake LehmanLake Lehman started off strong, only to have to hold off a Weatherly rally to post a 25-23, 25-19, 21-25, 25-27, 16-14 non-conference victory.Shannon Sarosky led the Wreckers with 15 assists five aces and two kills. Sam Hartz chipped in with three aces, three kills and a dig.Kiersten Ursta contributed seven kills and four aces for the Wreckers.In the JV game, Lake Lehman won in two games.Pleasant Vy.-PM WestPleasant Valley knocked off Pocono Mountain West for a 25-9, 25-6, 25-5 Mountain Valley Conference win.MacKenzie Dorney paced the Bears' attack with 12 kills, seven digs and one ace. Teammate Kiesten Griesback added 17 assists, two digs and two aces.Kalli Walling (15 assists, two digs), Ashley Rivera (nine kills, four digs) and Courtney Miller (seven kills, two blocks) contributed to the PV (8-1 overall) victory.
