RJ Heller was encouraged by friends to publish a collection of his writings, which can be found in his new book, "Holding Grace: Prose & Poetry," published by Balboa Press.

"Holding Grace" is a book of prose and poetry that gives voice to all those many moments people have experienced, reanimates life's fondest memories, and in the truest sense, want to hold again. Although the reflections found in this book are personal for Heller, they can be applied universally.

"I believe it is important to give voice to moments," says Heller. "Many moments contained within this book reflect a longing for home, memories of the past, nature and childhood experiences. Given the frantic pace of society today, this book gives readers a chance to allow old memories to return and temporarily slow down the hands of time. 'Holding Grace' is a footprint that I would like to leave on the world for others to experience over and over again."

Here is an excerpt from "Holding Grace":

"In a tired time, with the light outside drifting away for another day and the lights inside flickering as they come to life, I cup my hands together and prepare to give thanks…to the life of a day given to me. A day shared with past and present, living and dying, of body and not, and a realization that in everything that is, there is something that was."

Heller lives life forward while keeping the past close. By letting words tell his story, he captures moments experienced by us all and presents them in a unique, tender way. He is greatly influenced by travel, nature and the sea.

Heller and his family live in Palmerton and Starboard Cove, Maine.
