Joseph Lorah, corporate director of marketing and customer service for Blue Ridge Communications, was honored by his industry last week.
He received the "Independent Marketer of the Year Award" by CableFAX, a leading cable trade publication. The presentation as made at CableFAX' "Program and Top Operators Awards Breakfast" Sept. 25 in New York City.
Lorah, of North Whitehall Township, Lehigh County, oversees all of the company's marketing efforts as well as Blue Ridge's customer service department and commercial sales. He has held these responsibilities for the Palmerton-based company since 2006.
Also last week, Lorah was elected to an officer position on the Broadband Cable Association of Pennsylvania's (BCAP) Board of Directors.
Lorah will serve as secretary on BCAP's Executive Committee, while maintaining his seat on the Association's Board of Directors, a position he has held since 2009.
"Joe has been an invaluable contributor to BCAP's deliberations and decision-making as a member of our board, and we're pleased to have him assume a greater leadership role with us," said Dan Tunnell, BCAP president.
Lorah holds a Masters of Business Administration from DeSales University and a Bachelors of Arts degree from Lycoming College. He is past president of the DeSales University MBA Association, and a past member of the Lycoming College Alumni Executive Board.

BCAP, a member-driven organization based in Harrisburg and founded in 1957, actively promotes broadband cable and telecommunications industry issues in Pennsylvania, including the development of advances in technology, programming and the Internet. The association's membership includes broadband cable companies serving nearly 3 million Pennsylvania cable customers and national industry equipment suppliers and programmers.
