Lansford borough sewage fees due

Lansford borough property owners are reminded that the 2013 Sewage Transmission Fee is due by the end of the year.

The fee is for upkeep of the sewer lines beneath borough streets. The annual fee, assessed in February, is $90 per housing unit if paid within 30 days. A penalty added through the year now brings the 2013 fee to $103.50, due by Dec. 31.The 2014 bill will be mailed on Feb. 15.Notices of delinquent accounts, with the $25 penalty, will be sent in the near future. Residents should be aware that if their account is past due, they can avoid the $25 administrative cost by paying before the letter is sent. Payments may be made at the borough office, 1 W. Ridge Street, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays. Call the office at 570-645-3900 with any questions about your bill.More than 500 accounts have not been paid for 2013. Failing to pay the bills not only means a loss of much-needed revenue for the borough, it's also not fair to those who do pay their bills.
