Only slightly more than 1,000 voters had cast their ballots here by 1 p.m. today. A tabulation made by the Evening Courier showed a total of 1,952 votes cast in the five polling places in Tamaqua.

This was indicative of the fact that there were no local contests and there was not much apparent interest in the county contests.

On the other hand, it was not running too far behind the number of votes cast by 1 p.m. on Primary Election Day May 22 when one of the largest turnout of voters was registered here by the time the polls closed. There were 1,246 votes reported by 1 o'clock that day.
