The Tamaqua Community Art Center, 125 Pine St., Tamaqua, is hosting an exhibit of miniature houses and doll houses by Len Usalis.
Usalis says he has a passion for building and collecting miniature hobby items. He began designing and handcrafting Victorian doll houses in 1996, and noted that doll houses are not just for young girls and women. He says he also enjoys building log cabins and other house variations.
Paying close attention to detail is part of the artist's creativity in building the homes, as he uses molded tongue and groove pine clapboard siding and fancy silk screened windows, along with hardwood floors and working front doors.
Usalis, who lives in Tamaqua, utilizes old miniature items to add to his doll houses.
The collection will be on display at the center for about two weeks.
