A elderly woman was struck and killed as she walked along a Lehigh County roadway on Saturday, May 26. State police at Fogelsville said the accident occurred about 11:25 a.m. in the 6600 block of Kings Highway South, in Upper Milford Township.

Troopers said Christopher J. Murphy, 33, of Fountainville, Bucks County, was drivng a 1997 Nissan Pathfinder southbound as Helen L. Kemmerer, 85, of 6625 Kings Highways, was walking along the southbound lane. As Murphy approached the area he became distracted and was unable to stop his vehicle in time, striking the woman with the front end of his vehicle.Kemmerer was pronounced dead at the scene by deputy coroner Jason Nicholas, at 12:35 p.m.The investigation into the accident is continuing. Anyone who might have witnessed the accident is asked to call troopers at (610) 395-1438.
