Nine defendants sentenced

Nine people were sentenced recently in Schuylkill County court on criminal charges: They were:

Stephen Barrett, 40, pleaded guilty to a charge of simple assault on Brian Correll at the Hang Loose Bar in Tamaqua, and was sentenced by Judge James P. Goodman to serve 30 days to 23 months in the county prison, pay $50 to Criminal Justice Enhancement Account (CJEA) fund, and make restitution of $11,083.68 to the victim. Barrett was cited by Patrolman Anthony Stanell.Timothy Earl Hostetter, 26, Pottsville, entered a guilty plea to a charge of terroristic threats for firing a BB gun in a vehicle in the 300 block on W. Market St., Pottsville, and was sentenced by Judge John E. Domalakes to serve one to two years in a state correctional institution, and pay $50 to CJEA fund. Hostetter was cited by Patrolman Paul R. Olson.Yasheam Washington, 24, inmate at the state correctional institution in Ryan Township, who was found guilty by a jury, was sentenced by Judge Charles M. Miller to serve 21 to 42 months in a state correctional facility with the sentence to commence at the expiration of a sentence he is now serving imposed by the Philadelphia Common Pleas Court.He was found guilty by a county jury of possessing a metal wire sharpened to a point to make it a weapon for escape. He was cited by Trooper Edward Lizewski.Jessica Astoney Pauly, 29, Pottsville, pleaded guilty to failure to furnish a drug free test to her probation officer, was sentenced by Judge Charles Miller to serve 12 months on probation with the sentenced to begin at the expiration of a sentence she is now serving for a driving under the influence (DUI) of alcohol charge.She was sentenced by Miller to serve three to 12 months with the defendant placed in prison to await an open bed in a rehab facility.Moises Gonzalez, 31, Mahanoy City, pleaded guilty to theft of property removed from the Holt Electronic Manufacturing Company building in Mahanoy Township, formerly the elementary school building of Mahanoy Area School District, was sentenced by Judge James P. Goodman to serve 12 to 24 months in a state correctional facility with credit for serving 141 days in county prison, and pay $50 to CJEA fund.Placed in ARDSenior Judge D. Michael Stine placed four defendants into the Accelerated Rehabilitative Dispostion (ARD) probation program because this was their first criminal offense of an non-violent crime. If they successfully complete the sentence imposed their record will be cleared. If they violate the terms fixed by the court they will be removed from the program and their cases placed on the criminal trial list.All were placed for a year.Christopher Charles Schnoke, 18, Stoney Top Road, Pine Grove Township, who was charged by Trooper Norbert Brennan when stopped on SR209 in Tremont Township and charged with driving under the influence (DUI) of alcohol.He was assessed $500 to defray cost of the program, pay $100 to Substance Abuse Education (SAE) fund, $50 to MCARE fund, $50 to CJEA fund, attend alcohol highway safety school, perform 10 hours community service, and driver's license suspended 90 days. On charges of failing to activate turning signals when required and careless driving was fined $50 plus $100 costs.David Robert Robinson, 24, Orwigsburg, charged by Trooper David F. Beam with DUI of alcohol when stopped on SR61 in West Brunswick Township, assessed $500, pay $300 to SAE fund, $50 to MCARE fund, $50 to CJEA fund, $60 to Schuylkill Medical Center (SMC), attend safety school, perform 10 hours community service, and driver's license was suspended 60 days.Tiffany A. Reinhart, 26, Hamburg, charged by Trooper Peter F. Mohn with DUI of alcohol when stopped on SR61 in Deer Lake Borough, was assessed $500, pay $300 to SAE fund, $50 to MCARE fund, $50 to CJEA fund, $60 to SMC, attend safety school, perform 10 hours community service, and driver's license suspended 60 days. On charges of failing to drive at a safe speed and careless driving was fined $50 plus $100 costs.Bryan James Shipton, 21, Pottsville, charged by Trooper Eric L. Reber with DUI of alcohol when stopped on SR209 in Branch Township, was assessed $500, pay $100 to SAE fund, $50 to MCARE fund, $50 to CJEA fund, $60 to SMC, attend safety school, perform 10 hours community service, and driver's license suspended 60 days. On a charge of failing to drive on roadway laned for traffic was fined $25 plus $50 costs.Each defendant must also pay additional court costs and a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation or parole.
