Two area businesses cited

Two Carbon County area businesses have been cited by the Wilkes-Barre enforcement office of the state liquor control board for violating the state liquor code.

Penns Peak, 325 Maury Road, Jim Thorpe, Penn Forest Township, and the Penn Forest Township Volunteer Fire Company No. 2, SR534, Box 125, Albrightsville, were both cited for fortified, adulterated and/or contaminated liquor. The Penns Peak violation allegedly occurred on April 2 and the fire company on April 7.These charges will be brought before an administrative law judge who has the authority to impose penalties ranging from $50 to $1,000 for minor offenses and up to $5,000 for more serious ones. In addition the judge can also impose a license suspension or revocation based on the severity of the charge brought.
