The Panther Valley baseball team closed out its season with a win on Friday.
The Panthers came a way with a 9-0 shutout win over Columbia-Montour Vo-Tech.
Matt Buss went two-for-three with a double and two runs scored, Kyle Ferryman was two-for-two with three RBI and Jake Kusko was two-for-three with a double and run scored for the Panthers (5-15).
Luke Stano pitched a complete game shutout for the win.

Catasauqua held on for a 5-4 Colonial League victory over Northwestern.
Richard Perry picked up two hits and two RBIs for the Tigers (13-7, 9-7). Teammates Jake Augustus and Austin Yanek each drove in runs as well.
Zach Stopay led the Roughies with two hits and two RBIs.

Lehighton and Palmerton needed 10 innings to decide a victor, with the Indians coming out on top 4-0 in a nonleague game.
Both starters dominated. Lehighton's Thatcher David threw seven and two-thirds innings and struck out five while allowing four hits. Palmerton's Lee Kuntz fanned 15 in nine innings while giving up just five hits.
The Indians broke through in the tenth by scoring four runs - three on passed balls - to win the game. Josh Kern (3-for-5) had the lone RBI.

The Colts scored a run in the bottom of the seventh inning to pull out a 3-2 Schuylkill League win over Nativity.
Freshman Dante Salerno drove a liner to right field to score Austin Paisley and end the game.
Frank Nietz had a triple and scored two runs for Marian (10-8 overall, 9-7 league), while Pete Baddick had two stolen bases. Anthony Agosti and Eric Swankoski also had singles for the Colts.

Drake Steele drove in two runs while teammate Ryan Martinez knocked in another to help Northern Lehigh to a 3-2 non-league win over North Schuylkill.
Steele finished the day 2-for-3 with a single and a double. Martinez was 3-for-3 with two singles, a double and a run scored.

Shane Grapsy led Blue Mountain to a 3-2 win over Tamaqua, keeping alive the Eagles' playoff hopes.
Grapsy threw a complete-game, three-hitter with four strikeouts, while going 2-for-4 with the game-winning hit in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Derek Rottet had two hits for the Blue Raiders (13-7, 9-3), including a two-run single in the sixth. while Brett Kosciolek had his team's other hit.

Saucon Valley did most of its damage in the first three innings and went on to beat Lehighton, 6-3 in nonleague softball action.
