Brad Hurley was hired as the Panther Valley girls basketball coach at Thursday's school board meeting.

Hurley was hired on an 8-0 vote. His salary was set at $3,100.A 2005 Jim Thorpe High School graduate, Hurley has been an assistant boys basketball coach the past three years, working one year at Pottsville Nativity and two years at Tamaqua.Hurley replaces Josh Wank at Panther Valley. Wank was the Lady Panthers coach the last four years, compiling a 30-58 record, including an 11-12 mark this past season when PV qualified for the District 11 playoffs for the first time in a decade.The head coaching position was opened after the season concluded.
