Michael Kostro, 15, an eighth grade student in the Jim Thorpe Junior High School, was awarded the prestigious newspaper carrier Citation Award from the Inter-State Circulation Managers' Association. He received the award because of his heroic actions on Aug. 22, 1989, when he saved a neighbor's house from burning in the Holiday Pocono development, Albrightsville. Because of his heroic actions, he sustained burns to over 30 percent of his body. The award was presented by Scott Masenheimer, TIMES NEWS marketing director.
