Volunteers with the Tamaqua Area Animal Rescue (T.A.A.R.) held their sixth annual Dog Walk recently to raise funds for various projects of the group.

The walk was held Saturday along the Schuylkill Valley Heritage Trail, located SR209 west of the borough in Walker Township. Tamaqua Area Animal Rescue is a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide care and sanctuary for the lost, abandoned, abused, and neglected animals of Tamaqua and surrounding areas.To report any lost, found, or stray animals, find out how you can become a foster family, or help out in any other way, area residents are asked to call , Sue Schafer, group President, at (570) 527-6808 or visit their Facebook page. Schafer, who expressed her appreciation to the volunteers who helped put this together, gave extra gratitute to member George Geissinger for his extra initiative in collecting donations. Found or lost pets are also shown on their Facebook page. Schafer also mentioned that any volunteers and donations are greatly appreciated. Donations, made payable to Tamaqua Area Animal Rescue, can be mailed to 345 Elm Street in Tamaqua.
