A number of Tamaqua residents have stated their curiosity over the discovery of a mysterious rock sitting in what appears to a craterlike formation in the woods located behind the Dutch Hill baseball fields. The rock, consisting of an almost-perfect circle dimension, measures about 2 feet by 2 feet. Many residents, all of which wish to remain anonymous, stated that is resembles a large meteorite. Others said it is probably the remnants of harder, dense rock left over from a century of mining. The stone sits by itself amongst leaves and brush.
