State police at Fern Ridge reported on the following crashes probed by troopers.
A two vehicle crash occurred about 1:43 p.m. on March 14 along Weir Lake Road, in Chestnuthill Township, Monroe County. Troopers said Dylan M. Frantz, 19, of Kresgeville, was driving a 1990 Ford Thunderbird eastbound on Old Stagecoach Road, while Alexander A. Gonzalez, 21, of Brodheadsville, was driving a 1999 Subaru Legacy, southbound on Weir Lake Road.
Troopers said as Frantz approached the intersection he attempted to stop but his Ford slid on the gravel and through the intersection and into the path of Gonzalez. Gonzalez attempted to avoid the collision by swerving to the left but could not. The Subaru struck the Ford head-on.
Gonzalez sustained a head injury and was transported to the Pocono Medical Center (PMC), East Stroudsburg, by West End ambulance. Frantz was not injured.
Troopers said Frantz was cited for driving a vehicle at a (un) safe speed.
The second crash occurred along SR209, at the intersection of Frable Road, in Chestnuthill Township, involving three vehicles. Troopers said a 2005 Hyundai Sonata, driven by Nicole Nardone, 18, of Saylorsburg, crashed into a stopped 1999 Chevrolet Cavalier, driven by Mark H. Weaver, 37, of Brodheadsville, pushing it into the rear of a stopped 2009 Toyota Camry, operated by Mary E. Borrell, 51, of Long Pond.
Nardone and passenger, Jennifer Palmer, 18, of Kunkletown, were injured and taken by West End ambulance to PMC. Weaver and passengers Mary E. Borrell, 51, and Samantha Borrell, 15, both of Long Pond, were not injured.
Troopers cited Nardone for following too closely.
