Welcome to the new Zoo Health Club. And welcome you will feel when you walk in the door because the staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The Zoo Health Club is located at 1241 Blakeslee Boulevard Drive East at the Carbon Plaza Mall.

Although The Zoo Health Club has been open for a few weeks, owners Brian and Beth Alboucq, are planning a grand opening on Saturday, March 16 to give everyone the opportunity to visit the facility and learn more about how to become a member. The Zoo Health Club features 9,000 square feet of gym space and another 1,800 square feet of space for aerobic exercising. They also have a locker room and showers.

"Anyone can come here and feel comfortable," said Alboucq. "This is a gym for all ages."

Whether you want to get fit for health or cardiac reasons, lose a few pounds so your pants will fit better or want to "muscle" up, the Zoo Health Fitness Club has the state of the art equipment which can help you reach your fitness goals. There are four personal trainers who will help you on your fitness journey. There are a variety of ways to to utilize the facility, which range from free weights to selectorized universal machines, to elliptical machines and stationary bicycles or specialized fitness classes. There are aerobic classes, Zumba, hooping, cardio kick boxing, step, basic yoga, flow yoga, BeachBodyFit Insanity, core fitness, interval training, R.I.P.P.E.D., American kick boxing and more to help motivate you and keep you on track.

They also offer tanning.

"We can help you exercise yourself from your shoulders to your calves," said Alboucq.

While tours are available to anyone who stops by at any time, the grand opening will give everyone no excuses to meet the personable owner, see the facility and meet the staff.

They also offer sports supplements and tanning products for purchase.

The Zoo Health Club is open Monday through Friday from 5 a.m., to 11:30 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The Zoo Health Club offers two tiers of membership, with the general membership offering access to the gym and premium membership that includes aerobic classes, tanning and free child care while using the facility. Child care is available from 8 a.m. to noon and 4 to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday.

"Our grand opening on Saturday, March 16 will feature amazing specials, raffles of local merchandise from local vendors.

The official ribbon will be cut at 10:30 a.m.

Dream Come True, Blue Ridge Chapter will be on hand with refreshments with proceeds to benefit the charity during the opening day celebration.

"We wanted to recreate the friendly atmosphere of Health Works," said Beth Alboucq. "People often come here to workout together."

She added, "This is the gym where you can feel comfortable during all stages of your fitness. People ages 15 to 85 come here to walk on the treadmills."
