This 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee operated by Cassidy Akers, 22, of Lehighton, was traveling eastbound on Route 248 near Bowmanstown at around 8:35 a.m. today when it lost control, causing the front left side of the vehicle to strike a barrier and overturn. Akers was transported to Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest campus, with unknown injuries. The accident caused disabling damage to the vehicle. Assisting at the scene were Lehighton State Police, Palmerton Police Department, Bowmanstown Volunteer Fire Company, Parryville Volunteer Fire Company, Palmerton Ambulance, and Lehighton ALS.
