Planners okay new TP building

Members of the Carbon County Planning Commission recently granted approval to the Pa. Turnpike's plans to construct a 5,000-square-foot maintenance building in Kidder Township, but granted conditional plan rejection to three other submissions.

The proposed land development is located at the I-476 Pocono interchange and includes removal of an existing block storage building, storage tanks and propane tanks.Granted conditional plan rejection were:• Lehighton Dollar Store development plan, which includes construction of a new 9,100-square-foot Dollar General Store with parking and unloading areas at intersection of North First and Ocher streets in Lehighton.The commission said the plans lack preliminary/final plan requirements of the Lehighton Borough Land Development Ordinances.Needed are a clear sight triangle, development agreement for curbing and sidewalks, off street parking, parking lot lighting and storm water management, and correct tax parcel number.• AutoZone Store land development plan, which includes construction of a new 6,816-square-foot retail facility at 70 Blakeslee Blvd., Drive East, Lehighton.The plan lacks final plan requirements of the Lehighton Borough Land Development Ordinance. Required are approval of Lehighton Water and Sewer authorities, PennDOT highway occupancy permit, clear sight triangle, agreement for curbing, sidewalks, off street parking, parking lot lighting and storm water management facilities.• Mountain Laurel Golf Course pavilion lot line revision at the intersection of routes I-80 and SR534, East Side Borough. The plans lack final plan requirements of East Side Borough.The plans include building a pavilion roof over an existing concrete patio. The plans need a written certification of the land surveyor.
