Just as the temperatures begin to swell, so too, will the activities at Palmerton Memorial Pool.
With warm temperatures forecast, the First Sunday of Summer Celebration at 1 p.m. Sunday figures to heat up action at the pool.
As of Thursday, the water temperature at the pool was 76, and expected to climb each day, according to Larry Arner, pool manager.
Sponsored by Pool Pals of Palmerton Memorial Park, the First Sunday of Summer Celebration will offer a DJ who will play the sounds of summertime, a coloring contest for children, and an egg hunt in the pool. Popcorn will be available.
Susie Arner, president of Pool Pals of Palmerton Memorial Park, said the event is sure to bring about "a great day for family fun."
"The events are funded from the profits obtained from the Pool Pals Chinese Auction at the Palmerton Community Festival," Arner said. "A special shout out of thanks to everyone that donates and supports the festival and the auction, as without that, there would not be these great days."
Arner noted that no coolers are permitted inside at the pool, as there is a concession stand with drinks, sandwiches, candy and ice cream.
The pool is open from noon until 8 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, 10-8 Saturdays, and 1-8 Sundays.
