Two Monroe County residents were arrested on warrants following an incident that occurred on June 13.

Pocono Mountain Regional police were dispatched about 7:30 a.m. to the Garden Motel, located in Mount Pocono, for an ambulance assist. On scene they made contact with Melissa McKee, 21, of Mount Pocono.

She had an active warrant for her arrest issued to the county sheriff's department. Police also found drug paraphernalia in the room. During the investigation McKee told police that Michael Gielec, 24, of Cresco, fled the area on foot prior to their arrival. A check revealed Gielec had active warrants for his arrest issued to the county sheriff's department and Pocono Regional police.

Gielec was later located at the Martz bus station area in Mount Pocono.

He fled on foot into nearby woods. K9 Niko was called to the scene and tracked Gielec through the swamp and located him.

Gielec was placed under arrest and charged with flight to avoid apprehension and resisting arrest.

McKee was placed in the county prison in Snydersville on the outstanding warrant. Gielec was arraigned on the new charges with bail set at $15,000. Police did not indicate if he was jailed.
