Palmerton Area Library announces activities

For children

Watercolor Painting Classes are offered on Tuesdays for children. Call the teacher at (610) 824-4962 for more information. New classes for adults and children are now forming.Teen Advisory Group for teens in grades 5-12. New members are welcome. Check out the new bulletin board beside the elevator for details about meeting days and events. Call the library and ask for Mariann for details.Summer reading Preschool Circle Time for ages 3-5 takes place Thursdays at 10:30 from June 13 -July 25. .Summer Reading Club for grades K-6 offers stories, games, crafts and more and runs Fridays at 10:30 from June 14-July 26. There will be a sing along with Bill Frye on Friday, June 14.There will be no summer reading programs the first week in July.Adults, teens and children may sign up for the "Reading Chain" contest to compete for prizes in their respective age groups.Annual Fund DriveThe library's annual fund drive is under way. www.palmertonarealibrary.com.Activities for allThe Knitting Club meets the first and third Monday of each month from 6-8 p.m. This is free and open to anyone interested in knitting and crocheting on all skill levels.Yoga Classes are offered every Saturday at 9 a.m. Call the teacher at (570) 436-1762 for more information or stop in on Saturday morning.The library board of directors meets the third Wednesday of each month at 4 p.m. Meetings are open to the public.Friends of the Palmerton Area Library meet four times a year. The next meeting will be Tuesday, July 9 at 7 p.m. Everyone is welcome.The Quilt Guild meet on the second Thursday of each month at 7 p.m. Please use the side door.The library's basement book sale is open regular library hours. New books arrive weekly, as well as movies, puzzles and CDs. Volunteers are always needed to sort and place books on shelves.
