Brown, Damian, Nase earn football honors

The Pennsylvania Scholastic Football Coaches Association (PSFCA) in conjunction with the Big 33 Classic, has released its annual listing of top high school football prospects for the class of 2014. This list of 112 student athletes who are rising seniors from across the state, compiled for the second straight year, represents a cooperative effort on the part of representatives from PSFCA district directors, coaches and other functions of the association. It is the only list of its kind to be compiled exclusively by high school coaches.

"No one knows better the caliber of talent associated with this current class of juniors soon to be seniors than the coaches who work with these kids day-to-day, which is why we felt strongly about endorsing this compilation," said PSFCA outgoing president Mark Evans, who is the football coach at Manheim Township High School. "We intend to research and release this list annually to continue to promote Pennsylvania high school football and support our players far into the future."Three TIMES NEWS area athletes were selected to the prestigious squad: Pleasant Valley's Marquis Brown (devensive end), Marian's Lukas Damian (tight end/linebacker) and Panther Valley's Richard Nase (tight end/defensive end). Both Brown and Damian were named to the TIMES NEWS All-Star First Team. Brown was also named to the Mountain Valley Conference All-Star First Team.
