Jim Thorpe police reported on two driving under the influence (DUI) arrests made by officers, who dating back to last year.
Police said on Monday, Aug. 20, 2012, about 9:18 p.m. officers stopped William Edward Daniels, 49, of 205 Jefferson Ave., Pottstown, in the area of 306 Center Ave., for several traffic and equipment violations on his 2001 Kia Optima.
At the stop police showed signs of impairment and admitted drinking. Also observed were two six packs of beer on the rear seat along with one empty Smirnoff ice bottle. Daniels failed field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest for suspicion of DUI.
He was transported to the Lehighton hospital for a blood test. The results showed a .39BAC. A records check also revealed that his driver's license was under suspension-DUI related.
Daniels has been charged with two counts of DUI, driving under suspension-DUI related, and a general lighting requirements.
On Thursday, April 18, about 11:36 p.m. police observed a 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier in the parking lot of the Lehigh Gorge State Park. The driver was identified as Joanne Marie Williams, 30, of 251 W. Hazard St., Summit Hill. She was questioned why she was there after hours. Officers detected the odor of an alcohol beverage and Williams displayed signs of impairment.
She failed filed sobriety tests and was transported to the Lehighton hospital for a blood test. The test revealed at .21BAC. She was charged with two counts of DUI.
