Santa and Mrs. Claus joined several hundred guests for a Christmas in July Celebration last week at Baer Memorial Swimming Pool in Lehighton.

"We are very excited to host this event," said Jackie Hansler, Shull-David Elementary School PTO treasurer. "Christmas in July is giving us the opportunity to get together as a community and support a wonderful cause - our children's education."

In addition to the special visit by Santa and Mrs. Claus, the event included a bounce house, food; games, and activities - including fishing for goldfish in the baby pool.

To add to the festivities, an entertaining mix of Christmas and summer music was provided by Lane Roberts - aka "The Doctor" - from Penn's Peak Radio.

All proceeds from the Christmas in July Celebration - including the special admission fees - benefit Shull-David PTO.

According to Hansler, "The proceeds from this event will help to support the PTO activities throughout year - field trips, assemblies, etc."

Hansler worked closely with fellow PTO officers Mary Lichtenwalner, president; Amy Sitler, vice president; and Stacy Simek, secretary to help organize this inaugural Christmas in July Celebration.

"This is the first time that the PTO has done an event of this nature," said Principal Aaron Sebelin. "We are glad that so many families came to the pool to enjoy a night of fun and swimming."

"We thank the Lehighton Pool for allowing us to host this event," concluded Sebelin.
