Weatherly man facing new charge

Weatherly police on Wednesday charged Frank H. Kephart, 45, of Weatherly, with making terroristic threats relating to him allegedly threatening to shoot a borough police officer.

Kephart, who is currently incarcerated at the Carbon County Correctional Facility, Nesquehoning, was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Joseph Homanko, who set bail at $50,000.Police said the charge is the fourth harassment-type charge Kephart is facing. He is being held at the prison on $10,000 bail for two other incidents for which he was charged, and $2,500 bail for the third incident.Police said in arrest papers that Kephart allegedly threatened to shoot Weatherly police Sgt. Michael Bogart in the head. In the affidavit, police said an informant told police Kephart was upset about an incident he was involved in with borough police and said he was "going to fix Sgt. Michael Bogart, by putting a bullet in his head." Another witness told police a rifle had to be taken away from Kephart because he aimed it out a window at an officer's head.A preliminary hearing for Kephart will be held at a later date before Homanko.
