After a fun and successful 2013 season, the members and directors of Zion Opera Workshop decided they would like to add a new annual event to their schedule.
They will stage a Broadway Revue on Thursday, July 18, at 7 p.m. in the Lehighton Park Amphitheater.
There is no charge for admission to this concert.
There will be full chorus numbers as well as many solos, duets, trios and group numbers.
The group which was formed back in 1970 by Paul and Linn Smith performs a Broadway style musicals each year in Smith Auditorium of Zion United Church of Christ, Lehighton.
Musical comedies are the core choice for Zion Opera Workshop, but there are so many songs from more dramatic and contemporary shows as well as songs with a smaller cast that our members love to perform.
The musical revue that is being planned allows the members the opportunity to do these songs that would otherwise not be performed by Zion Opera Workshop.
The full group will be performing a medley of songs, including "Wicked" as well as "Seasons of Love" from Rent.
You will also hear songs from Spamalot, Les Miserables, Lion King II, Shrek the Musical, Chess, Big River, Chicago, Little Women, You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown, Porgy and Bess, Legally Blonde, Enchanted, Thoroughly Modern Millie and Aida!
Soloists include Brent Harris, April Boyett, Kristin Campbell, Elyse Kistler, Tina Becker, Evy Heckman, Laura Cressley, Jessica Schafer, Becky Herd.
