Four vehicle crash

State police at Lehighton reported investigating a four vehicle, rear-end type crash, that occurred about 5:56 p.m. on June 29 along SR209, near Hideaway Hill Road, in Polk Township, Monroe County.

Troopers said Joseph R. Peters, 62, of Norristown, was driving a 2006 Dodge Ram truck northbound and attempting to make a left turn into a local business. John R. Schmidt, 65, of Kresgeville, driving a 2012 Chevrolet Impala, was behind Peters.A 17-year-old male from Morgantown, Berks County, driving a 2006 Honda Ridgeline, failed to see the two slowing vehicles ahead and crashed into the rear of the Impala pushing it into the rear of the Ram. A 16-year-old male from Birdsboro, Berks County, driving a 2002 Volkswagen Passat, was behind the other teen and the front of his car rammed the rear of the Honda.A 17-year-old male from Morgantown, in the Passat, sustained a minor injury and was taken to the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg, by West End ambulance.The two teen drivers were both cited for failure to maintain proper speed.Troopers also reported investigating another crash on June 29, at the intersection of SR248 and Maria Street, in Parryville, Carbon County. Troopers said Joseph A. Sitarchyk, 54, of Kunkletown, was stopped for a posted stop sign on Maria Street and failed to make sure traffic was clear. He pulled onto 248 where his 1993 Ford Ranger was struck by a 2003 Hyundai Tiburan, operated by Timothy P. Schaub, 38, of Palmerton, who was eastbound.A passenger with Schaub, Tammy L. Reitz, 35, and a juvenile, both of Palmerton, sustained minor injuries and taken to the Palmerton hospital for treatment.Troopers said Sitarchyk was cited for a stop sign violation and Schaub was cited for driving with an expired license.An accident was reported about 6 a.m. on July 6 along SR895, in East Penn Township, Carbon County. Troopers said Thomas C. Krell, 51, of Lehighton, was driving a 2000 Ford Ranger eastbound when he became distracted by glaring sun as he crested a small hill. The passenger side mirror of the Ranger struck David L. Muthard, 55, of Lehighton, who was riding a bicycle along the right berm also eastbound.After impact Muthard was knocked off the bicycle and it continued into a utility pole.Muthard was injured and taken to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township, by Lehighton ambulance for treatment of moderate injuries, troopers said.Krell was cited for careless driving.Troopers investigated a one vehicle crash on July 7 along Maury Road in Penn Forest Township, Carbon County, that occurred about 7:20 p.m.Troopers said Rosemary J. Delarosa, 48, of Albrightsville, was driving a 1986 Ford Mustang northbound, just north of Penn's Peak, when she swerved into the southbound lane, then swerved back off the east shoulder and into a tree along the east berm, according to a witness who told troopers.The Mustang spun clockwise and came to rest with disabling damages. Delarosa fled the scene, troopers said. She is facing charges.
