Tamaqua Blue moved within one win of the District 18 10-11 Little League championship by defeating Valley East in the winner's bracket final.

In other action, Towamensing was eliminted from the 10-11 tourney while Tamaqua's legion team was ousted from the Schuylkill-Berks playoffs.

Panther Valley also came up short against Bushkill Township in the Keystone Senior Babe Ruth finals.

LITTLE LEAGUE

Tamaqua-Valley East

Tamaqua Blue beat Valley East 5-4 in the winners bracket final of the District 18 10-11 year-old Little League tournament.

Carson Barron hit a walk-off single in the bottom of the sixth inning to earn the victory.

Michael Minchhoff, Emma Kuczynski and Joe Minehan each had two hits for Tamaqua.

Minehan hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the fourth for Tamaqua.

For Valley East Kubishin and Culyer each had three hits.

Michael Minchhoff pitched a strong five innings and Nathaniel Noftz came in to close out the sixth for Tamaqua.

Gotshall took the loss for Valley East.

Valley East faces Valley West Friday at 6 p.m. with the winner facing Tamaqua Saturday at 6 p.m.

Valley West-Towamensing

Valley West defeated Towamensing 9-6 in the District 18 10-11 year-old Little League tournament.

Eric Keck slugged two home runs for Towamensing. Owen Schoch and Brock Bollinger each added two hits to the Towamnesing cause.

The loss eliminated Towamensing from the tournament.

SCHUYLKILL-BERKS LEGION

Tamaqua-Valley View

Tamaqua was eliminated from the Schuylkill-Berks Legion playoffs after dropping an 8-4 decision to Valley View.

The Blue Sox briefly held a 2-1 advantage after Matt Roberts delivered a two-run double in the second inning, but Valley View used a six-run third frame to take the lead for good.

Roberts finished with three hits, two of them doubles, while Peter Baddick chipped in with two hits and an RBI.

For Valley View, Dalton Miller earned the pitching win and also added two hits at the plate. One of those hits was an RBI triple. Cale Bruso also added two hits and a pair of runs scored.

Tamaqua ended its season with a record of 4-16.

KEYSTONE SENIOR BABE RUTH

Panther Vy.-Bushkill

The sixth-seeded Bushkill Township Minutemen knocked off the Panther Valley Black Diamonds, 1-0 in the second game of their league championship series to clinch the Keystone Senior Babe Ruth League title.

Bushkill's Andrew McFarland drove in Nate Bachert for the game's only run. Nick Novak got the win with five shutout innings while Justin Albert got the save.

The title was Bushkill's third in the past four years.

Panther Valley was the No. 5 seed in the playoffs.
